Intermediate Music Theory Books
Keyboard Theory, Book 1 Edited by Judi Gowe. Piano - Clark six levels. 52 pages. Published by Warner Brothers. (0115) See more info...
[from a contributor] Although this is an old book, it is one of the few theory books that guides the student to actually USE theory concepts creativily at the keyboard. Transposing, improvising accompaniments, harmonization, and creative work are used throughout the entire series. This is a worthwhile investment for any piano teacher's library; a wealth of ideas! |

Practical Theory - Complete, Spiral Bound Band/Orchestra (Theory Book). Published by Alfred Publishing. (1998) See more info...
If you want to use a good, thorough theory book without the extra frills found in many elementary books, this is the one. I have found it to work well with Jr. High through Adult students. It is laid out very nicely, with review pages after each section. |
